Meet Miguel Cespedes

Started in 9th grade. Worked every summer through high school. Earned a degree while working full-time in the field. Then built Shelby Roofing Services to do it the right way.

The Owner Behind the Work

Built from the Ground Up

Miguel Cespedes moved to the United States at the age of twelve — arriving in a new country, learning a new language, and navigating a new school system all at the same time. He didn't have the luxury of easing in. He adapted, worked hard, and kept going. That foundation never left him.

Miguel Cespedes didn't start Shelby Roofing Services from behind a desk. He started on a roof — in 9th grade — carrying materials, stripping shingles, and learning what the trade actually demands. That's not a background story. It's the foundation every single project is built on.

After working every summer through all four years of high school, Miguel went on to earn his degree from La Salle University in Philadelphia — while continuing to work full-time in the field. Six in the morning until the afternoon. Then class. Then studying. Four years.

By the time he graduated, he had accumulated years of hands-on roofing experience alongside a business education — the combination he always intended to use to build something better.

The Full Journey

Every Year Built on the One Before

9th Grade — Summer
First Job on a Roofing Crew
Started from zero — carrying materials, handing up shingles, watching how a job comes together from tear-off to cleanup. A summer job that planted something that wouldn't leave.
10th Grade — Summer
Returned. Learning the Systems.
Came back to the same crew. Moved beyond carrying to installing — learning different roofing systems, underlayment, flashing details, and what separates a good installation from a lasting one.
11th Grade — Summer
Expanding Expertise
Deeper into project management and customer-facing work. By this point, roofing wasn't just a summer job — it was a trade being learned with intention and a growing sense of where it could lead.
12th Grade — Summer
Senior Year. Full Hands-On Experience.
Heading into college with four summers of real field experience already behind him. He wasn't starting from scratch — he was adding to something already built.
La Salle University — 4 Years
Full-Time Student. Full-Time Field Work.
Six in the morning until the afternoon on job sites. Class until night. Studying after. Every week. Earning a business degree while continuing to expand roofing knowledge, client communication, and project management in the field.
After Graduation
Founded Shelby Roofing Services
With years of field experience and a business degree, Miguel founded Shelby Roofing Services — not because he stumbled into it, but because every year before that moment was preparation for exactly this.

After Graduation

The Company He Always Intended to Build

After graduating from La Salle, Miguel founded Shelby Roofing Services. He already knew what the problems in the industry looked like. He'd seen what happened when crews rushed. He knew what proper installation looked like — every flashing detail, every ventilation decision, every material choice that determines whether a roof lasts 15 years or 40.

He understood something most homeowners don't get to see: the decisions made on-site that never make it into the contract. Shelby Roofing Services was built specifically to be transparent about those decisions — and to make them the right way, every time.

The vision was straightforward: create the best roofing company that provides the best customer service and the best customer experience. That vision guides every project today.

At Shelby Roofing Services, homeowners deserve honest communication, quality workmanship, professional project management, and an experience that makes them feel confident throughout the entire process.

The Name Behind the Brand

Inspired by Carroll Shelby

The name Shelby Roofing Services wasn't chosen at random. It was chosen with intention — as a tribute to one of the greatest entrepreneur stories in American history.

Carroll Shelby was a Texas chicken farmer who became one of the most celebrated racing drivers in the world, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959. After a heart condition ended his racing career, he didn't stop. He became a builder — creating the legendary Shelby Cobra and partnering with Ford to produce the Shelby Mustang, cars that are still revered more than 60 years later.

What drove Miguel to choose that name wasn't the cars alone. It was the story behind them — an entrepreneur who refused to let setbacks define him, who built something legendary through relentless drive, discipline, and an obsession with doing things the right way.

“My favorite car is a 1967 Shelby. Every time I see one, I'm reminded that the best things are built with patience, precision, and a standard that other people think is unreasonable.”

Customer First

Every Customer Deserves the Best Experience

Miguel handles estimates, project walkthroughs, and client conversations personally on every significant project. He believes the quality of the experience — from the first phone call to the final walkthrough — matters as much as the installation itself.

When something doesn't meet the standard, he's the one who comes back. When a homeowner has a question months after a project is done, he picks up the phone. That's not a policy — it's how the company was built.

Every decision on a project is made by someone who has been on a roof since 9th grade and understands exactly what it means to stand behind the work.
